At a Glance

symfony 1.4 The current Long Term Support stable release (for new projects) - Maintainted until November 2012
This stable version has been released at the end of November 2009. This is the recommended version to use for all new projects. This version is the current LTS release (Long Term Support).
symfony 1.3 The current stable release - Maintainted until November 2010
This stable version is the recommended version to use for legacy projects. It's the exact same release as 1.4 but also contains a compatibility layer that eases the transition from older symfony versions.
Symfony 2.0 The next major release
Symfony 2.0 is the next major release of the Symfony framework.
