sfJSLibJCropPlugin

Contains the javascript, css & images from the Jcrop library version 0.9.8 package. When using in conjunction with the sfJSLibManagerPlugin you can include its js & css files simply by calling

sfJSLibManager::addLib('jcrop');

This makes it very easy to write widgets, for example, which rely on this library automatically include their js & css assets without having to manually add them to view.yml

Installation

To install the plugin for a symfony project, the usual process is to use the symfony command line:

php symfony plugin:install sfJSLibJCropPlugin

If the installation of either package fails then you can manually download the tgz file from

http://plugins.symfony-project.org/get/sfJSLibJCropPlugin/sfJSLibJCropPlugin-0.9.8.tgz

and then ask symfony to install the downloaded file

php symfony plugin:install sfJSLibJCropPlugin-0.9.8.tgz

Enable the plugin if necessary by editing config/ProjectConfiguration.class.php:

$this->enablePlugins('sfJSLibJCropPlugin');

Usage

Whilst it's possible to use this plugin on its own, it's really intended for use in tandem with the sfJSLibManagerPlugin.

By providing information about which css & js files the library uses, in a standard & unified structure, it allows the manager plugin to add the assets to the view including any assets from dependency libraries (jQuery) automatically.

Just make sure to ask symfony to publish plugin assets:

php symfony plugin:publish-assets

And then include them like so:

sfJSLibManager::addLib('jcrop');

This eliminates the need to hard code the libraries in view.yml, and means only the libraries which are needed on any particular page can be included.

The admin generator is a particularly good example of a place that could benefit from this. Widgets can be created which use the manager plugin to automatically include the libraries it depends on. If you have existing widgets which rely on a particular library then simply call the manager's addLib() method from the form's configure() method when you're setting up the widget.
